IT was billed as hot stuff - a spicy new way to boost a woman's breast
size.
But how - girls wanted to know - could a herbal remedy containing curry
powder improve your cup size?
Makers claim "Definition" increases the growth of new muscle and tones
existing tissue. It stimulates, they say, the lymphatic system, ridding
it of toxins and stagnant fluid.
Fiona Gass, a distributor who has tried the product herself, says that
after five weeks, her chest grew a whole cup size.
Demand for the cream is said to be so high among Scottish women that
special supplies have been flown in from Canada.
"We've had trouble keeping it on the shelves," said John Dallas, of
Essentially Yours Industries. "We've sold out twice this year."
Two of the
Definition's ingredients - fenugreek and fennel - are used in
spicy curries.
The course takes two months, and requires the patient to take 10 drops
under the tongue and rub in a small quantity of cream into the breasts
once a day.
A course costs pounds 87, and manufacturers say that, because it is
natural, it is risk-free.
But is it all too good to be true? We put two women on the course to
test the makers' claims.
Natalie Culham, 18, stuck religiously to the treatment for eight weeks
and believes that it has firmed up her breasts, adding two inches to her
chest.
"My boyfriend Scott noticed after about three weeks," said receptionist
Natalie. "And I was surprised when I found out I had gone from a 32in
bust to a 34. My breasts certainly felt firmer."
But Natalie, of Glasgow, who craves an ever bigger bust, won't be
throwing away her padded bras and silicone enhancers just yet.
"Although I had low expectations of the treatment, I secretly hoped that
it would make me much bigger," she admitted.
She fears that she will still have to resort to surgery to achieve the
look she wants.
"I'll never be happy until I'm a 34C," she said, "so as soon as I can
save up enough money, I'm going to have implants."
However, she believes that for a non-surgical breast enhancement, the
Definition treatment is worth it.
She said: "It has had a noticeable effect. After all, I saw the tape
measure with my own eyes, and Scott thinks my breasts look great."
Gillian McNeil, 21 - a 34 A cup size - was keen to try
Definition.
She said: "I have never been happy with the size of my bust. In fact, I
had promised myself that I would save up to get implants, but I'm not
that keen on surgery. I really like the fact that this is completely
natural."
Gillian began seeing an improvement after about three weeks. She said:
"My breasts felt firmer and they were rounder.
"It was my best friend who noticed first. She said she thought that my
breasts had got much bigger."I think the effect was quite noticeable at
the sides of my breasts. They definitely felt fuller.
"Although I wear a 34A bra, it was a little bit loose. After the
treatment, my bra felt tighter."
Gillian, a nursery nurse from Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, admitted she
forgot to take the drops when she went for a weekend to London. She
said: "When I forgot to take the treatment, the difference was really
noticeable.
"My breasts had increased, but then they went back to their normal size.
But they increased slightly again once I started taking it again."
According to Fiona Gass, director of Blackhall Park natural therapy
centre, Gillian could have seen even better results had she used the
product correctly.
She said: "To get the best effect, you need to put the concentrated
drops under your tongue and hold them there. And to be properly
effective, the treatment has to be continuous.
"Her misuse of the product probably affected the results."
Even so, after two months her bra size has increased by a quarter of an
inch. It may not seem like much - but Gillian is delighted with the
results.
She says she is happier and more confident with her new 341 4in bust.
Gillian added: "I've even bought myself some nice underwear. I have the
confidence to wear low-cut tops or even boob tubes when I go out at
weekends."
