Personal Breast Augmentation Story
I had breast augmentation surgery. I will tell you about my experience in full. All the ins and outs, the level of pain, how much the surgery cost, what they looked like then and now, four years later, what to expect - the whole kit 'n caboodle. I will tell you in days what happened, although these days, of course, are not consecutive, they will give you an idea of how many days of your life the whole process will take, the follow up appointments and all!

Day 1: The Breast Aug Consultation

Before you go in for the actual surgery, it is required (if you go to a reputable, board certified plastic surgeon) that your have a consultation appointment - maybe even a few, before you have the actual breast augmentation surgery. During my consultation, I was fitted with several saline filled implant shells that were filled with different levels of cc's - that's the measurement label for the amount of fluid put into the implant shell. They were put inside a big "old lady" bra and I strutted my stuff with every size implant from large B cups, small C cups, small and large D cups - everything basically. See reviews of breast augmentation alternatives.

Oh, yeah, and I started off as a very small A cup just so you know, so the mere vision of me strutting around with three times bigger breasts should make you chuckle a little. Although I pretty much knew going in that I would like to have either a large B cup or smaller C cup, the doctor did caution me that most women wish they would have gone bigger after they have the surgery, so he said not to be too conservative when choosing my final size. I found this funny, because I thought he'd counsel me the opposite way - not to go too big and stay conservative, but he was trying to be realistic, which is comendable I guess.

Day 2 : The Pre-Op Instructions and Financing Finalization

This appointment lasted approximately 2 hours, and consisted of counseling of what to expect during and after the breast augmentation surgery procedure. It included a handy dandy little video too which actually contained some footage of a breast augmentation surgery being performed. After this, I was lead to an office where a very attractive woman sat in a large office chair.

She appeared to be about mid thirties, and her skin was flawless. I heavily suspected this women had some sort of work done - botox, maybe? That's beside the point though. This lovely blond proceeded to tell me how she had just undergone breast augmentation herself and was still in the post-op healing stages. She advised me that she had chosen the under arm option of insertion for the implant, and said that it wasn't as bad as she had anticipated. I strained to see if I could tell that she had fake breasts. Alas, I could not. She had a full power suit on, and it didn't give much away.

Anyways, we finalized all of the financing. I paid the entire amount in a cashier's check made out for $4,800.00 for the full breast augmentation procedure. She explained to me that this covered the anesthesia costs, operating room costs, surgeon's fees and other follow up visit costs, including the actual warranty on the implant devices themselves. They had a ten year warranty, just as long as you made your follow up visits as planned, and this guarantee covered rupturing of the implant, and other unforseen malfunctions of the saline breast implant device itself.  Today there are even better options - women getting them today have some of the best breast implant choices out there yet.

Day 3 : The Operation

This was the big day. The day I had prepared for since I was about eighteen years old. The big operation. I had not eaten the night before as instructed, after 8:00 p.m., and I was ready to move on with this life changing surgery. Gosh, after 27 years of being flat chested and longing for feminine, alluring breasts and actually having some sort cleavage, my boob-filled fantasies were becoming a reality. I could hardly believe it. I actually had the guts to go through with it. Not only that, I was proud of myself for mustering up the extra cash, although I did have to finance part of it.

They wheeled me into the room where I would receive my anesthesia drip. And.......all I remember after the IV (intravenous drip) was inserted into my arm was that I started counting, and I don't think I made it past three. The next thing I know, I see a bunch of strangers standing over me, saying "you did great" and "can you understand me". I proceeded to drift in and out of consciousness for the next half hour, or what seemed like an eternity. It seemed as thought I couldn't keep my head up if my life depended on it. My boyfriend seemed nervous. He had never seen me "out of control" and to see my head bobbing aimlessly obviously was unnerving. There was no pain at all for the next several hours.

I was given a prescription for powerful pain medication - I think it was Percoset. In case you don't know what percoset is, it's a powerful pain medication, or narcotic that is actually highly addictive if you take it for even a couple of days to a week. I found this out the hard way. Not knowing that you had to ween yourself off of this powerful pain medication, I thought I could just quit it "cold turkey" after my breast augmentation surgery. Boy was I wrong. I had what seemed like hours of misery, where I felt like I had the worst PMS of my life. Just so you know, ween yourself - it's just not worth the utterly helpless feeling you have when you just stop without gradually weening!

Day 4 : The Aftermath of the Mammoplasty Surgery

So, a couple of days went by. Not knowing the amount of time I should have taken off, and not telling anyone what I had done in my office, I only took two days after the surgery off. I could barely drive because the turning of the steering wheel was very difficult, and felt like it made my pectoral muscles burn. My breasts were still masked in bandages, and I was not allowed to remove them for several days. I was dying to see how my boobs looked. Did I get a good boob job or not? Sorry to say ladies, but you can't tell that until a few months AT LEAST have passed. All boob jobs look bad at first. You are all scarred up, they are way too high up on your chest and way too big for the first few months.

When the breasts drop and start to hang a little more naturally after a few months post operative surgery, that's when you can start to see the fruits of the five grand you just spent. My boobs looked pretty good. But there was one thing - they were hard. I massaged them just like I was told, several times a day, and even pulled the implants downwards to create a more natural look, and more cleavage, as told by the surgeon and his assistant, but it seemed that I just could not get them to look perfectly natural. Now, almost four years later, I have to say, they look pretty good - but do they look as good as say Halle Berry's boobs, or Angelina Jolie's natural boobs? Um, not really. Sorry, but they're still breast implants -and that is painfully obvious sometimes!
